Anita’s Swedish Crackers are created from my mom’s recipe. They are all organic, all vegan, no sugar or wheat, just tasty crackers of wholesome goodness.

My late mother, Anita, visited me often, travelling far from Sweden to Hawaii. She always brought me unique ingredients and we loved to cook together. This recipe was hers, called “knäckebröd” or crisp bread. While Indians have naan, Mexicans have tortillas, Italians have focaccia; we Swedes eat crunchy crisp bread with each meal. Swedish food is hard to find outside of Sweden or IKEA, and it makes me so happy that I can keep my traditions and food culture alive by making it here in Hawaii and sharing with my community.

I love these Swedish crackers, they are crunchy, healthy and organic and go great with anything from sweet to savory. The seeds and spelt flour get a wonderful roasted flavor after slowing baking in the oven for over an hour. All of the ingredients are organic, including spelt flour, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, flax seeds, pumpkin seeds, and some seasonings. For those who may be gluten intolerant, Spelt is an ancient grain related to wheat, but it’s form of gluten does not seem to affect those otherwise sensitive to wheat gluten.
